How do you keep things interesting?

First off, I love traveling and try to do as much of it as possible, but I've noticed that the pictures I take while doing so are kinda boring. I don't like taking the generic pictures of famous landmarks that every person with a phone has taken already, and it's hard to come up with a creative twist, especially since most places have a crowd.What do you guys do when traveling?
