As I see it, the community argues back and forth between allowing questions and removing them. To be more specific, "For questions, equipment purchasing advice, and other questions about your individual situation, please ask in..."Instead of looking at it as an "either we allow a gear question without regard for its content or we disallow it" situation, what about considering shades of grey? For example, a rule could state there has to be a certain amount of information in the question:Example poster #1:I'm nu photographer want lens for my camera i shot once day. mi frend said im gudExample poster #2:Hi,I'm an amateur photographer, link-to-my-work. I currently own a Canon 6d, a 17-35 f4 and a 24-70 f/2.8. I like to shoot landscapes, and headshot portraits. I'm looking at a better lens for portraits. What lens would you recommend for me?Location: AmericaBudget: About $1,200 USDThe first question should be moderated because there's not enough information to answer the question. The second question should be allowed. If after a while plenty of these threads pop up as well, then consider a different approach.Auto-moderator could be set to filter for the words, "location" and "budget". via /r/photography https://ift.tt/2MhB484
