Photo student looking to buy a new camera, looking for suggestions!

I’m a student who just declared a minor in studio arts with a focus in digital photography. Growing up I had a Canon Rebel xti, but recently (and for the classes I’ve taken so far) I’ve been using my boyfriend’s 5D mark II. I’ve been shooting for fun for more than a decade, but don’t have much formal experience. I’m at a point where I can afford to buy myself a new DSLR so I’m looking for one that I can use for my advanced digital photo classes as well as for personal use going forward. I do love the mark II but the learning curve has been pretty steep so I’m not opposed to something that’s geared slightly more towards amateurs, although I’m willing to struggle with it for a little while if it’s a great camera, and my boyfriend does freelance photography so he can be my live-in tech support. My “need” list is:-must be Canon (so I can use lenses I already have)-under $1500 (I have a B&H student discount so I’ll hopefully be able to use that)-16+ megapixels (a requirement for my photo classes)-would be great if it did video (I’ve been wanting to mess around with time lapses) but I can sacrifice this for the right model!-I prefer full-frames but that’s also not a dealbreaker*edit: not at all opposed to refurbished or used, just looking to buy a body (not with a kit lens) via /r/photography https://ift.tt/2OACw2e
