Does a higher resolution monitor make a discernible difference when editing photos?

So I'm looking to upgrade my 27" 1080p LCD monitor to one with an IPS panel, and I'm wondering if getting one with a higher resolution will make any difference for editing in Lightroom. I know that the IPS will have better/more accurate color rendition, so that's why I'm looking to switch, I'm just not sure if going up in resolution to 1440p or 4k will make a difference. I'm running a PC with a GTX 970 so I don't think video processing power will be an issue, I'm just not sure if the increase in price for higher res will be worth it. via /r/photography https://ift.tt/2N9IV7v
