In short, I went to school for photojournalism. The program emphasize more on the importance of the story rather than technical skills. I did some observations and found that photojournalists, especially new graduates, are seriously behind in technical skills compared to commercial photographers, videographers or filmmakers. I am a huge tech nerd and I self learned many technical skills that were not taught. Looking at my peers, I feel sorry to see them working inefficiently due to the lack of understanding of tools (i.e. batch processing, ingesting, rough cutting...or even using their gear to the fullest extend). My personal belief is that those two things are of equal importance - you need technical skills to work efficiently, to put your gear to use. Focusing to the content would not help you overcome technical difficulties.Thoughts? via /r/photography https://ift.tt/2FiQ0AQ
