Is it safe to use duster spray on a Nikon D80?

I’ve had my Nikon since college, and for the years after that it’s spent it’s time on a shelf gathering dust, regrettably, while life has had its way with me.I’d really like to start using my camera again it’s just covered in dust. Also I’ve never cleaned the mirror since buying it. I know there’s a hold open setting somewhere I’m just not familiar with it.How do you guys go about cleaning your cameras?
