Hey all!So, I love photography, but I am a bit too poor to afford good gear (HS student after all), so I rock a Nikon D3400 kit with the default 18-55 and 70-200 lenses. However, I have had this kit for 3 years.Everythings been going great up until Thursday of last week, when I was shooting BTS for a fashion show. My 18-55mm wouldn't focus. I swapped for my 70-200mm (since its my only other one) and continued shooting. However, I'm trying to fix it now, and have no idea how it broke. The lens simply will not focus. At all. No auto, no manual. I don't know what to do. I've tried cleaning the ends of the lens, cleaning the inside of the body mirror area thing, but to no avail. I've also tried resetting all settings on the body, but that also didn't help.Instead of spending a bunch to fix a kit lens (unless you guys wanna provide troubleshooting tips :D) I want to get a new lens. So, if you guys could help, I'd greatly appreciate it! I love portraits / street photography, but also do some low-light shooting every here and there. I have been looking at the Nikon 35mm f/1.8G Standard Prime lens, but I have never used a prime before so I don't know how I'd do with it. Any tips/suggestions?Thanks all! via /r/photography https://ift.tt/2nF88vn
