Discussion: Can SLR photography benefit from in-camera software optimisation a la mobile photography?

Digital photography has improved leaps and bounds when it comes to dealing with difficult lighting situations with their puny sensor. Smart HDR, deep fusion, image stacking etc.I am wondering if there is any area where these similar techniques could make its way to SLRs in-camera processing? I know that most modern cameras already do smart noise reduction and so on, however could they make use of automatic bracketing etc intelligently without user input?I appreciate that many advanced users would prefer full manual control and the freedom of layering and processing by themselves in softwares, but I imagine that having the camera automate some of these might be immensely helpful too. via /r/photography https://ift.tt/339SebP
