I have two strobes that spent at least a month underwater, and I just used them for a shoot yesterday.

Several years ago when I was trying to learn lighting techniques, I bought two used Calumet Genesis 200 strobes. They’re nothing fancy, but worked just fine for learning. When I moved into a new house, I lost track of where they went.I was in my new place for at least a year, (probably more) when I looked into a plastic storage bin that was on the side of the house. I thought it was full of trash or stuff we were getting rid of, but I was wrong. It contained my two strobes, and several other pieces of electronics that I had packed up when we moved. At some point, rainwater has gotten through the lid and filled the entire bin, everything in it was completely underwater. I discovered this in the summer, it hadn’t rained in months.I was really upset, and I assumed everything was ruined. I towel dried the strobes, put them on a shelf in my garage and didn’t touch them for months. They looked terrible , but to my surprise they actually still worked! Nothing else in the bin was able to be salvaged. I have no idea why these things still work, there’s really no reason they should! via /r/photography https://ift.tt/3aOFHOK
