Had a terrible experience with another photographer, first time I've ever been upset at another photographer so I wanted to see what you guys have experienced.I met up with some people I knew who are big fans of these flower fields that farms in my state like to put up in the summer. I decided I wanted to scout it out cause I've been meaning to make it out to one of them but never actually pushed myself to. Now I am definitely a landscape photographer before anything but it was way to early for me to start shooting so I decided it would be fun to shoot some portraits for a change since the people were already out in the field. I had the big ol' 70-200 out and headed out and as soon as I got close to some of the people I was with (who are not photographers) one of them asked me what 'kind' of photographer I was because apparently this guy, who was on a viewing platform just outside the field on a viewing platform, had told them to 'get out of his shot.' I just kind of shrugged it off and kept shooting. Later though, this guy comes up to me and essentially also tells me to leave because I'm in in his shot along with the rest of the people I was with. This was still whatever to me even though I thought it was a bit rude still. I walked out of the field after a few minutes and switched to my wide angle to get ready for some landscape shots. My tripod isn't too tall so in order to get a proper vantage point, I needed to also get up on that viewing platform. Problem was, this guy was taking up 75% of it, oh and was also demanding that no one move it because he was taking slower exposures (but hand held??). He had his tripod set up and asked that I didn't move it even though he wasn't using it and had his stuff all over the platform. He was also doing weird stuff like using flash which in all my readings I have never really encountered as a technique to be used in landscape photography. I gave up and just left the area. Now I understand getting somewhere early and claiming a spot, but claiming an unnecessary amount of space and trying to control someone else's private property was just infuriating.Like I said, I primarily shoot landscapes and have never once asked people to leave an area, even if I decided I had to I would do it in a manner just to remove those people for a short period of time and then let them return.I ended up using my car as a bolster for my tripod and shooting far away from that dreadful man. Maybe I'm in the wrong here but his mannerisms were not like any I've ever encountered when holding down a spot with other landscape photographers. What are your worst experiences? via /r/photography http://ift.tt/2vqIxWS
