Found my grandfathers old camera gear in a box in his closet. Thought I’d share it with you guys!

https://ift.tt/2WdiFgv I came across this box of camera gear. This all belonged to my grandfather. I had no idea he was ever into photography at all until I came across this. I’m honestly feeling a little emotional this evening, as finding this gear with the possibility of using it makes me feel just that much closer to him. Thought I’d share my discovery with you all.I’ve been reading about these lenses online and I’m having a little trouble figuring out what’s what. Mainly I’d really love to find an adapter that would allow me to use these lenses on my Canon Rebel T6. But I’m also really confused on a few things functionality-wise.First there’s the camera, which I basically understand. There’s a few labels on it that I wasn’t quite sure of, but I have the owners manual which has been helpful. It’s a Pentax ME Super SE. Sales receipt was in the box, purchased on 12/11/1984.The first lens is an SMC Pentax-M 1:2 50mm. Lens also reads 8122295 ASAHI Optical Co. Made in Taiwan. I have a Canon 50mm 1.8 and I already felt it had an extremely shallow depth of field. I’ve never used a 1.2 but it must be razor thin. Then there’s a Computar 1:1.8 12.5mm TV lens. Made in Japan. I have very little experience with film cameras, but I’ve never seen a lens with threads. I’d really love to get an adapter for all of these lenses, but I’m especially curious what a 12.5mm would look like.Last lens is a Makinon MC 1:4.5 80-200mm... I guess telephoto lens? Also says 8224501 55ø. It also has a kind of cylinder that’s moveable up and down, which I understand nothing about. Maybe it’s because I don’t have a telephoto lens. Maybe they all do that? Anyways, also made in Japan. Then there’s a Vivitar RL Edition 2650 flash unit. Pretty straightforward.Lastly, there’s a set of 3 Kenko filters in a vinyl case. 49mm close-up no. 1, 2 and 4. Also made in Japan, still factory sealed in plastic. I thought that was pretty neat. I wanted to try them out on one of my lenses but I don’t want to open them since they’ve been sealed since the 80s.So that’s my discovery. Pretty awesome stuff. I’m really looking forward to getting some batteries for the camera this weekend and doing some shooting. If anyone has any information they can provide, anything I might not have found online (including how the hell the telephoto works), that’d be really great. I’d like to learn everything I can about what my pap left behind. Really learn to use them. I think it’d be nice to take some great shots with his old camera. And if anyone knows if there’s an adapter available for these lenses that would fit a Canon T6, that’d be great too. I’ve read there’s a few different mounts on these lenses and I’m not sure which I have. Thanks guys, have a good evening! via /r/photography https://ift.tt/2vTY8mF
